Poland has become the first country to secure funding under the EU’s SAFE defense initiative, signing a massive 43.7-billion-euro loan agreement to modernize its military and defense industry. The funding will support weapons procurement, defense infrastructure, and industrial expansion as Warsaw strengthens its role on NATO’s eastern flank. The agreement reflects Europe’s growing push for stronger regional defense capabilities amid concerns over Russia and future US commitment to European security.
