Naval Group has awarded a contract to Exail to supply advanced navigation systems for the Hellenic Navy’s new Defense and Intervention Frigates (FDI). The agreement covers a suite of interoperable technologies engineered for seamless integration: the Marins Inertial Navigation System (INS), Netans Data Distribution Unit (DDU), and the Gecdis-W WECDIS (Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information System). All systems will be embedded within the FDI frigates’ cutting-edge cybersecure digital infrastructure.
These frigates, designed for multi-role operations, are equipped to conduct anti-air, anti-surface, anti-submarine warfare, as well as special operations support. With high-performance combat capabilities and a digitally resilient architecture, they are tailored for mission success in contested maritime environments.
The Marins INS delivers high-precision inertial navigation for consistent positioning data, while the Netans DDU ensures secure and efficient data flow across onboard systems, enhancing situational awareness and operational security. Complementing these is the Gecdis-W WECDIS, offering advanced electronic navigation and tactical charting in compliance with NATO’s latest STANAG requirements.
This integration enhances the frigate’s overall mission agility, cyber resilience, and interoperability with allied forces.
