Safran Electronics & Defense, a leader in cutting-edge defence technologies, together with Babcock International Group, has announced plans to intensify cooperation across multi-domain mission systems, aircraft engines, space systems, and tactical and strategic communications.
Signed at the Paris Air Show, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aims to merge Safran’s and Babcock’s world-class expertise to deliver advanced and competitive defence solutions for the UK, France, and global markets.
This collaboration builds on a long-standing partnership between these two major defence players, whose products range from submarines to satellites. The agreement will focus on jointly pursuing key land, naval, and air defence programmes, speeding up the development and integration of new technologies.
The MOU also reinforces the shared defence goals of the UK and France under the Lancaster House Treaties, highlighting a mutual commitment to enhancing European security and developing a sovereign, resilient industrial base to address future defence challenges.
The cooperation will cover joint research and development, exchanging best practices in engineering, manufacturing, and support services, as well as enhancing supply chain robustness to ensure sovereignty and secure supply chains. Both companies are committed to supporting government strategies that promote economic growth and high-value job creation in both nations.
Through this strengthened alliance, Safran and Babcock reaffirm their dedication to advancing Franco-British defence cooperation for the advancement of national security, economic prosperity, and European defence leadership.
