European aerospace and defense company Destinus Group BV has completed the takeover of Daedalean AG, a Zürich-headquartered leader in aviation artificial intelligence, in a transaction worth CHF 180 million (approximately USD 225 million). Following the acquisition, Daedalean will serve as Destinus’ core center for AI development, autonomy research, and advanced perception systems, marking a major expansion of Destinus’ technological base.

Daedalean’s existing work in civilian aviation will continue under the Destinus umbrella, with a strong emphasis on safety-critical AI, intelligent pilot assistance, and advanced navigation and perception solutions. These technologies are intended to support the future of autonomous and semi-autonomous flight while maintaining compliance with rigorous civil aviation safety and certification requirements.

Integration into Destinus also significantly broadens the defense applications of Daedalean’s AI technologies. Planned developments include navigation solutions resilient to GNSS jamming, intelligent seekers and perception systems for missiles and interceptors, and autonomous decision-making tools for high-speed military platforms. The portfolio further extends to swarm operations, multi-agent coordination for large numbers of unmanned systems, and AI-driven sensor fusion designed to operate reliably in contested and degraded environments.

Destinus stated that the acquisition strengthens its ability to provide independent, European-controlled AI technologies across its autonomous systems lineup. By combining civil aviation innovation with defense-grade autonomy at industrial scale, the company aims to support evolving national security requirements while contributing to the long-term digital transformation of the aviation sector.
