Germany’s Hensoldt is deepening its support for Ukraine’s defense by supplying advanced radar systems under a contract worth 340 million euros. Ukraine is set to receive both TRML-4D and SPEXER 2000 3D MkIII radars, which will play a key role in strengthening the country’s detection and response to airborne and surface dangers. The TRML-4D radar, a pillar of the IRIS-T SLM missile batteries deployed in Ukraine, stands out for its high-tech AESA design and large target capacity.
Capable of simultaneously tracking up to 1,500 different objects—including cruise missiles, drones, planes, and helicopters—within a 250-kilometer radius, the TRML-4D greatly expands Ukraine’s situational awareness. Meanwhile, the SPEXER 2000 complements this with a specialized focus on short-range detection, picking up targets on land, at sea, and in low-level airspace.
These radar systems will be installed across various modern defense platforms such as the Skyranger 30 cannon, mobile air defense vehicles, and advanced counter-drone technologies like Feldlager and the HoWiSM laser system. As a result, Ukraine’s capability to detect and neutralize both conventional and unconventional threats will be significantly reinforced.
