Poland’s Ministry of Defense has inked a $2 billion agreement with the U.S. to expand its ground-based air defense capabilities using Raytheon’s Patriot system, confirming the country’s commitment to upgrade deterrence capacity within NATO. The deal provides logistics, technical training, and advanced systems support, ensuring continuous operational functionality even amid dense aerial environments.

This follow-on agreement builds upon Poland’s initial procurement of two batteries as part of the Wisła Phase I initiative, currently outfitted with PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptors and a modular IBCS command system. The new agreement strengthens Poland’s multi-tiered defense architecture, offering greater flexibility and faster response to simultaneous aerial threats.

The integrated network-centric Patriot system provides real-time threat evaluation and engagements against tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and manned aircraft, helping Poland to scale toward full NATO interoperability.
