The US Marine Corps has awarded a $118 million contract to Norway-based Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace for the delivery of remote weapon turrets for its ACV-30 amphibious vehicle fleet. The deal involves full-rate production of 101 RT20 Protector turrets and could potentially grow to $271.5 million with additional options.
In addition to turret assembly, the agreement covers logistics, fielding services, spare parts, and testing gear. The project will be executed in both the US and Norway, with final delivery slated for completion by late 2027. Coordination will be maintained with the USMC Systems Command throughout the program’s lifecycle.
The ACV-30 platform is part of the Pentagon’s effort to modernize amphibious vehicles and replace outdated systems. With variants including command, troop transport, and recovery models, the ACV family is at the center of next-generation amphibious warfare. The ACV-30 entered full-rate production earlier in 2025.
Equipped with cutting-edge firepower and safety features, the Protector RT20 turret includes automatic cannons, programmable airburst munitions, a coaxial machine gun, and the option for active protection and anti-tank systems. Its modular design supports flexible operations, delivering precision strike capabilities up to 3 kilometers away.
