The US Marine Corps has placed a $195 million order with BAE Systems for 30 additional Amphibious Combat Vehicles, strengthening efforts to modernize the service’s amphibious warfare capabilities.
The latest procurement increases total ACV-30 orders under the current contract to more than 150 vehicles. The ACV-30 features a 30mm cannon designed to improve engagement range and firepower while maintaining full operational capability across maritime and land-based missions.
Manufacturing will take place in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, with Kongsberg responsible for integrating the turret and weapon systems.
The ACV platform is a cornerstone of the Marine Corps’ initiative to replace aging amphibious vehicles with a modern, adaptable system capable of supporting distributed and expeditionary operations. BAE Systems continues to deliver multiple ACV configurations, including troop carrier and command variants, while providing recovery and sustainment solutions.
US investment in amphibious modernization has expanded in recent years. In 2023, BAE received additional funding to sustain low-rate production as the platform transitioned toward operational deployment. By 2024, ACVs were fielded with Marine Expeditionary Units, marking a generational shift from legacy vehicles first introduced in the 1970s.
