Morocco is set to boost its national defense capability following US approval for the sale of up to 600 Stinger missiles and related systems, valued at $825 million. This intensive air defense upgrade forms part of Morocco’s ongoing force modernization, ensuring readiness for evolving aerial threats in North Africa and beyond.
According to official statements, the proposed transaction will further reinforce the interoperability of Moroccan forces with the United States and NATO allies, facilitating shared defense exercises and streamlined logistics. US Congress must still formally endorse the sale, which is seen as a substantial vote of confidence in Morocco’s commitment to defense reform and allied operations.
