Three major defense companies—GM Defense, BAE Systems, and NP Aerospace—have joined forces under the banner “Team LionStrike” to compete for the British Army’s Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) program. The project aims to provide a modern, standardized fleet to replace aging Land Rovers and Pinzgauers scheduled for retirement by the end of the decade.

The UK plans to acquire thousands of LMVs in the coming years to bolster mobility across its infantry, cavalry, and artillery formations. GM Defense will supply its Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) as the core design, while BAE Systems will deliver military adaptations. NP Aerospace will ensure the vehicles meet UK defense standards, oversee integration, and provide lifecycle support.

Built on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 platform, the ISV offers both durability and adaptability. It can transport nine troops, carry 1,451 kilograms of cargo, and comes equipped with a Duramax turbo diesel engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Optional systems include machine guns, grenade launchers, and even counter-drone directed energy weapons, making it a versatile combat vehicle.

Transportability is another advantage: the ISV can be moved by heavy-lift helicopters or deployed via air-drop from military transport aircraft. Should Team LionStrike’s design be chosen, the program will also stimulate economic growth, creating skilled jobs in the Midlands region and generating new opportunities throughout the UK defense supply chain.
