At a recent defense exhibition in Turkey, Calidus, a prominent UAE defense firm, unveiled the MATV004, a new variant of its 4×4 Multirole All-Terrain Vehicle equipped with two quadruple Alheda missile launchers. This marked the configuration’s debut appearance at a Turkish event. The MATV004 was showcased alongside other Emirati systems, including the Wahash 8×8 Light Infantry Fighting Vehicle (LIFV) and the Barq rocket launcher, illustrating Calidus’ versatile military vehicle offerings.
The MATV004 is an evolution of the MATV001, which was first introduced at IDEX 2025 and serves as the baseline model of this vehicle family. The MATV001 is a heavy, armored 4×4 with a gross vehicle mass of 14 tonnes, propelled by a 360 hp engine coupled with a six-speed automatic gearbox. This setup delivers a power-to-weight ratio close to 26 hp per tonne, enabling excellent acceleration and agility.
Engineered for demanding operational environments, the MATV001 incorporates key features like a double-wishbone independent suspension, a two-speed transfer case, and large 395/85R20 tires. It can achieve road speeds of up to 120 km/h and operate over a combat radius of 700 km. Its off-road prowess allows it to scale 70% gradients, handle side slopes of 40%, step over vertical obstacles of 400 millimeters, cross trenches 750 millimeters wide, and wade through water up to 850 millimeters deep. The vehicle’s dimensions are 6.2 meters in length, 2.6 meters in width, and 2.4 meters in height, with 40 millimeters of ground clearance. The interior accommodates a crew of five, with access provided via two front-hinged doors on each side, while the rear flatbed supports carrying mission gear or supplies.
