Ukraine’s defense manufacturer Praktika has formalized a new industrial partnership with Spanish companies Tecnove and Escribano Mechanical & Engineering to launch joint armored-vehicle production in Spain. The memorandum of understanding sets the foundation for expanded defense cooperation and increased manufacturing capacity within Europe.
The venture covers a diverse lineup of platforms, ranging from tactical armored vehicles and fire-support systems to specialized designs such as military ambulances, EW platforms, command vehicles, and armored systems for demining and explosive transport. This marks Praktika’s and the Ukrainian defense industry’s first armored-vehicle co-production project with Spanish partners within the European Union, under the framework of the League of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine.
Through the agreement, the three companies plan to merge their capabilities in specialized vehicle engineering, aiming to develop and manufacture new armored solutions suitable for the EU, Ukraine, and allied customers. Production will be centered at a 25,000-square-meter industrial site in Herencia, Madrid, recently established by Tecnove to support large-scale defense manufacturing and system integration.
Assembly operations in Spain will rely on key components sourced from Praktika’s Ukrainian facilities, ensuring the continuation of Ukrainian technological leadership and battle-tested design input. Completed vehicles will be delivered to Ukraine and also contribute to Spain’s defense needs. For Ukraine, the project strengthens the country’s presence in European defense production networks, supports expansion of serial armored manufacturing, and elevates the role of private defense producers in EU and NATO-aligned programs.
