Leonardo and Saudi Arabia are negotiating a localization of helicopter component manufacture as a way to further their partnership.The collaboration would also involve creating spare components for engines, drones, and navigation systems, as well as strengthening maintenance and repair service capabilities.For more than 40 years, Leonardo has supplied fighter aircraft, avionics, surveillance, navy, and space equipment to Saudi Arabia.The most recent drive to localize helicopter production is in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and lessen reliance on oil by supporting domestic businesses.
