Patria and Valmet Automotive have entered into a strategic industrial partnership to collaborate on technology transfer and the production of Patria’s armored vehicles. The agreement includes setting up manufacturing processes for an initial batch of vehicles, though the companies have not disclosed the overall value of the deal.
Production of the first vehicles is expected to begin in late 2026 at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki plant, one of Finland’s key automotive manufacturing hubs. The partnership is intended to boost Finnish defense production capacity and support Patria’s rapidly growing armored vehicle portfolio across Europe.
The agreement follows a series of major Patria vehicle acquisitions across the continent. Sweden recently expanded its order with 94 more Patria 6×6 vehicles, bringing the total number under its 2024 framework arrangement to 321 units. Valued at nearly 1.5 billion SEK ($160 million), Sweden’s cumulative order will total 415 armored vehicles for delivery between 2025 and 2030.
Other countries are also advancing their Patria commitments. In November, Latvia completed the delivery of 21 domestically produced Patria 6×6 armored carriers designated for Ukraine, fulfilling half of its pledge to supply 42 vehicles. Earlier this year, Denmark finalized its decision to procure 129 Patria CAVS 6×6 platforms, adding to the growing number of European operators adopting the vehicle for modern military transport and troop protection needs.
