At the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington D.C., Oshkosh Defense unveiled its cutting-edge Family of Multi-Mission Autonomous Vehicles (FMAV), a next-generation suite of combat platforms tailored to meet the evolving needs of the U.S. Army. The lineup consists of Extreme (X-MAV), Medium (M-MAV), and Light (L-MAV) models, each engineered to enhance force modernization through autonomous operation, long-range precision capability, and improved tactical coordination across domains.

The X-MAV, the heaviest of the three, is designed as an autonomous launcher system capable of deploying long-range weaponry. The variant displayed at AUSA carried four Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles, highlighting its offensive reach and payload capacity. With a robust chassis, independent power supply, and all-terrain mobility, it serves as the foundation for the Common Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher Heavy program, emphasizing its role in extended-range strike missions.

The M-MAV variant supports both manned and unmanned launcher configurations, providing operational flexibility in dynamic combat zones. Derived from the FMTV A2 platform, it features intelligent navigation systems, remote operation capabilities, and automated resupply functions. Its AUSA configuration, equipped with MLRS munitions, showcased its ability to execute coordinated fire missions while reducing operator risk and logistical strain.

The L-MAV, the most compact variant, is inspired by the Marine Corps’ ROGUE Fires system. Built as a modular autonomous carrier, it can be customized for diverse missions — from counter-drone warfare and electronic attack operations to automated logistics. At the exposition, it was displayed with Switchblade 600 loitering munitions and Titan anti-drone technologies, demonstrating its adaptability. According to Oshkosh, the FMAV family exemplifies “flexible autonomy,” enabling proven military vehicle platforms to seamlessly integrate next-generation mission and control systems for rapid deployment across complex multi-domain battlefields.
