Verification of the weapon’s safe carriage and separation from its launch aircraft will be done using the test missile.Northrop Grumman was given a $705 million contract by the US Air Force in 2023 to supply the upgraded SiAW for its fleet of F-35 combat jets. With the aim of reaching initial operational capability by 2026, the military company will also be in charge of testing and curating the SiAW’s integration to make sure it suits the fifth-generation fighter.
