The Swedish and Finnish armed forces have expanded their joint vehicle procurement with an order for over 300 additional Sisu GTP 4×4 armored vehicles, bringing their total combined acquisition to more than 600 units. The latest contract, estimated at 2 billion SEK ($211 million), includes a diverse mix of variants such as single-cab carriers, air-defense platforms, command and medical vehicles, and CBRN-detection models designed for specialized missions.
These newly ordered vehicles will be delivered within the same window as the previous batch, enabled by the manufacturer’s upgraded production capabilities. Sweden is expected to receive its Sisu GTPs between 2026 and 2028, aligning the delivery timeline with Finland and ensuring efficient fleet integration across both defense forces.
Engineered for maximum mobility, the Sisu GTP is optimized for operations in harsh terrains, including snow, mud, and rocky landscapes. The vehicle features independent suspension, full-axle differential locks, and optional capabilities like a winch and CTIS, allowing crews to fine-tune tire pressure depending on terrain. This combination greatly improves maneuverability in extreme off-road conditions.
With a 0.4-meter ground clearance, 45-degree approach angle, and the capability to manage 60% gradients, the platform is built for demanding tactical environments. Propelled by a reliable Mercedes-Benz OM926 diesel engine, the GTP delivers strong performance and durability. Its modular architecture supports mission-tailored protection, meeting STANAG 4569 standards, with optional armor and CBRN-defense kits available for heightened threat scenarios.
