India Builds Unified Military Supply Network to Strengthen Joint Operations — The Department of Military Affairs is developing a common logistics structure to help India’s three armed services manage supplies, equipment and maintenance more efficiently. The initiative seeks to address fragmented systems by improving inventory visibility, standardising equipment identification and expanding joint logistics facilities. A proposed digital management application will connect service-specific information systems, while the National Defence Codification System is expected to support consistent inventory management. Other plans include joint ammunition depots, air stores supply parks and a defence logistics portal aligned with national logistics initiatives. AI-enabled planning and predictive maintenance are also being considered to improve resource utilisation. The reforms are intended to reduce duplication, accelerate military support and enable more effective coordination across future theatre commands.
