Belgium is reinforcing its air defense network with a major purchase of Mistral VSHORAD missile systems. The supersonic missiles feature fire-and-forget infrared seekers and are capable of intercepting drones, aircraft, and missiles at ranges of up to eight kilometers. The procurement forms part of a European cooperative framework aimed at improving collective defense capabilities among allied nations.
