Lockheed Martin has awarded L3Harris Technologies a new contract worth up to $200 million to boost production of solid rocket motors for the GMLRS Insensitive Munition, supporting growing artillery requirements for the U.S. military and partner nations. The follow-on award underscores the sustained operational demand for precision long-range fires.

This order is the first to flow through L3Harris’ new rocket motor manufacturing facility in Camden, Arkansas, which was built under the Defense Production Act Title III initiative to expand critical munitions capacity. The facility, together with modernized production lines, enables faster delivery timelines and higher production volumes.

L3Harris stated that the expansion will raise annual production capacity by over 30 percent, while continuing inert component manufacturing at its Huntsville, Alabama advanced manufacturing site. The company has consistently scaled output to meet urgent needs, achieving nearly an 80 percent increase in production through advanced manufacturing and process optimization.

The GMLRS IM rocket provides GPS-guided precision strike capability against long-range targets and features a warhead designed for enhanced safety in handling, storage, and transport. As a long-term propulsion supplier for Lockheed Martin, L3Harris continues to play a central role in sustaining GMLRS production, with this latest award representing its largest annual GMLRS IM contract to date.
