A possible $3.64 billion sale of Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Japan has been approved by the US State Department. 1,200 AIM-120D-3 and AIM-120C-8 AMRAAMs have been requested by Tokyo. In addition to the missiles, there are up to four AIM-120C-8 guidance sections and up to 20 AIM-120D-3 guidance sections with precise placement supplied by M-Code or the Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module.
