At Seoul ADEX 2025, Hanwha Aerospace unveiled its latest ground combat innovation, the Korea New Infantry Fighting Vehicle (K-NIFV) — a cutting-edge platform built to enhance survivability, connectivity, and lethality in modern warfare. The K-NIFV is engineered to operate effectively in drone-contested zones and electromagnetically challenged environments, highlighting South Korea’s shift toward digitalized and AI-supported ground systems.

Derived from the proven Redback IFV architecture, the K-NIFV replaces the conventional manned turret with a remotely operated, unmanned turret. This major design upgrade reduces crew exposure to battlefield threats while creating additional space to accommodate eight fully equipped soldiers, optimizing operational flexibility and troop deployment capabilities.

The weapon module features a 30mm cannon as the primary armament, with provisions for a 40mm cased-telescoped gun for future enhancements. Supporting armaments include a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and dual launch pods for South Korea’s new anti-tank guided missile, providing the K-NIFV with both anti-armor and anti-air defense capabilities.

Hanwha’s introduction of the K-NIFV reinforces its commitment to AI-driven defense innovation and modular vehicle design, aligning with global trends in autonomous and network-enabled land combat systems. The K-NIFV represents South Korea’s next leap in armored warfare technology, combining mobility, protection, and digital integration for future multi-domain operations.
