Germany is acquiring the Joint Strike Missile for its F-35s in a $642 million agreement approved by Parliament on June 4.
This makes Germany the fifth user of the Kongsberg-developed missile, alongside Norway, the US, Australia, and Japan.
The deal is set for signing before the second half of 2025.
Procurement responsibilities lie with Norway, which will acquire the missiles from Kongsberg on Germany’s behalf.
This framework mirrors Germany’s past NSM Block 1A procurement setup with Norway.
It also supports a broader bilateral missile effort involving the advanced Tyrfing supersonic weapon.
