Japan has delivered the first launcher units for its enhanced Type-12 long-range anti-ship missile system to a military base in southwestern Japan. The missiles will be deployed at Camp Kengun on the island of Kyushu as part of efforts to strengthen Japan’s defensive posture near the East China Sea. The upgraded system, produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has undergone improvements since 2022, increasing its range to roughly 1,000 kilometers. Mounted on eight-wheel trucks, each launcher can carry six missiles designed to strike maritime and land targets.
