In order to improve their abilities in reconnaissance, raiding, and strike missions, Royal Marines Commandos have been equipped with 159 new snowmobiles for the Arctic. The UK Commando Force, the Royal Marines’ brigade-sized operational branch, has received the Lynx Brutal Over Snow Reconnaissance Vehicles. Snowmobiles were also previously in the control of specialist squads of the UK Commando Force. However, changing battlefield tactics demand more mobility as fewer units must be deployed across a larger region.
