BAE Systems and the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC) have partnered through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to advance the M109-52 Self-Propelled Howitzer prototype. This agreement supports accelerated progress in enhancing long-range firepower, upgrading technology, and improving the artillery systems used by Soldiers today.
The M109-52 prototype provides a cost-effective, low-risk technical approach that rapidly delivers core warfighting capabilities.
Building on earlier individual development and testing efforts by both parties, the CRADA establishes a more efficient development path for artillery advancements and lethality enhancements for the M109A7 Paladin.
Work on the M109-52 will continue at Picatinny Arsenal and across BAE Systems’ extensive U.S.-based defense manufacturing facilities, including sites in Anniston, Alabama; Elgin, Oklahoma; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and York, Pennsylvania.
