The US Air Force has unveiled a visual concept of its AGM-181 Long-Range Standoff missile, a nuclear-capable system being developed for long-range deployment from B-21 and B-52 bombers.
Raytheon Technologies received a $2-billion contract in 2021 to develop the weapon, which is meant to succeed the AGM-86B air-launched cruise missile currently in service.
The Pentagon projected over $16 billion in development costs for the program, with another $7 billion for lifecycle management. Each AGM-181 unit is valued at approximately $14 million.
