Prime Minister Mark Carney warned that as US priorities change, Canada must assume greater responsibility for its military when he announced a $6 billion Canadian dollar ($4.2 billion) agreement with Australia to create an Arctic radar system. During the last stop of his first official journey as prime minister since succeeding Justin Trudeau last week, Carney made the announcement in Iqaluit, the capital of the Nunavut territory in the Canadian Arctic.
