Approximately 3,000 Somali soldiers have completed military training at the Xananbuure camp, marking an important milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen its armed forces. The nearly year-long course covered tactical skills, discipline, legal education, and weapons training. The initiative was financed by Saudi Arabia and supported by instructors from several partner nations. The program reflects Somalia’s continued focus on rebuilding national institutions after decades of instability. Expanding and professionalizing the armed forces remains a key objective in improving national security. Foreign partnerships are expected to remain important as Somalia continues efforts to establish a sustainable and effective defense structure for the future.
