The United States Army has finalized an additional purchase of Javelin missile systems, valued at $900.5 million, which also introduces Brazil and Tunisia as new customers. The order covers not only the missiles but also supporting equipment and related services.

The procurement follows a 2023 contract with the Raytheon–Lockheed Martin joint venture responsible for developing and producing the Javelin. Alongside the US, the order benefits several allied nations, including Australia, Bulgaria, and Estonia, under the foreign military sales program.

The agreement carries particular significance as it brings the system to South America through Brazil and to North Africa via Tunisia, expanding the Javelin’s global presence to every continent. Both nations will join a growing network of users who rely on the weapon for advanced anti-armor defense.

Renowned for its battlefield effectiveness, the Javelin missile combines long-range strike capability with portability. The system’s CLU sighting unit provides enhanced visibility in both day and night conditions, while the missile weighs 25 pounds and can reach targets up to 4 kilometers away. Its fire-and-forget design has proven invaluable in conflicts from Afghanistan to Ukraine, reinforcing its role as a frontline asset for modern ground forces.
