The Israeli Ground Forces will soon acquire 5,000 FPV kamikaze drones following a successful tender awarded to Xtend, a local drone technology firm. The total procurement is worth around 20 million Israeli shekels ($5.87 million), with each drone priced at 3,500 shekels ($40).
Alongside the drones, the contract covers the supply of VR headsets and operating stations for soldiers controlling the systems. Israeli outlet Globes reported that the agreement also includes a clause for an extra 5,000 drones, providing flexibility for future requirements.
According to specifications, the drones are 25 centimeters in size and capable of carrying payloads of up to 2.5 kilograms, enabling them to strike with precision. Their lightweight design and payload capacity make them suitable for company-level deployment in combat formations.
Military analysts believe the acquisition will substantially bolster the Israeli Ground Forces’ strike and reconnaissance capabilities, offering tailored solutions to the challenges posed by modern, high-intensity warfare.
