The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract to develop a quantum-enabled inertial navigation system prototype. The QuINS system determines the position, speed, and orientation of a platform using motion-sensitive quantum sensors. Even in the absence of GPS, internal measures enable precise navigation and location tracking. As per the agreement, Lockheed Martin will collaborate with two other companies, AOSense and Q-CTRL.
