Agile Defense has secured a major role in a $44-million US Navy contract focused on strengthening the Military Sealift Command’s (MSC) global IT systems and cybersecurity posture. The program, led by Savvee Consulting under a five-and-a-half-year agreement, seeks to modernize digital infrastructure, improve enterprise efficiency, and ensure greater resilience across MSC’s expansive maritime logistics operations.
As a principal subcontractor, Agile Defense will provide a suite of IT engineering, cybersecurity, and analytics services to enhance MSC’s digital defense capabilities. The initiative supports the Navy’s broader effort to maintain secure and dependable communications for its fleet of over 130 civilian-operated vessels, which transport vital materials, equipment, and fuel to sustain US and allied military forces worldwide.
Agile Defense Vice President Jay Burkhardt noted that the collaboration represents a strategic step in advancing secure, data-driven naval operations. He underscored that the project aligns with the Department of Defense’s ongoing modernization goals, focusing on cyber resilience, mission assurance, and the protection of maritime operational technology networks against emerging digital threats.
The Military Sealift Command, headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, serves as the logistical lifeline of the US Navy, operating a diverse fleet including combat support, hospital, and surveillance ships. In recent years, MSC has expanded its capabilities with the John Lewis-class oilers, optimized for more efficient refueling of carrier strike groups. The command has also integrated enhanced cybersecurity measures across its fleet to meet Navy Cybersecurity Readiness standards and upgraded its Global Maritime Operations Center, offering real-time vessel tracking and global logistics coordination.
