The U.S. Army has received its first MV-75 FLRAA virtual prototype from Bell Textron as part of efforts to accelerate the development of a next-generation long-range assault aircraft. A second prototype is expected to be delivered soon to the Army’s aviation training hub in Alabama.
Built using digital twin technology, the simulator provides a platform for troops to test the aircraft’s design and systems, helping refine operational capabilities before full-scale production. The virtual prototype is also designed for future conversion into a training simulator.
This step reflects the Army’s adoption of a fast-track acquisition strategy, with the program now progressing into its engineering and manufacturing development phase following a major approval in mid-2024.
