The UK is investing over £1 billion ($1.3 billion) to create a new offensive cyber unit and develop an AI-powered targeting system to enhance its digital warfare capabilities.

The newly formed Cyber and Electromagnetic Command will spearhead the country’s offensive cyber operations, which may include disrupting adversary networks, carrying out information warfare, and supporting broader military missions.

It will also strengthen the protection of the UK military’s digital systems against cyberattacks.

Cyber threats against the UK’s defense infrastructure have sharply increased, with the Ministry of Defence recording more than 90,000 incidents over the past two years—mostly linked to state-sponsored actors like Russia and China.
