Avenue3 has secured a £2.5 million contract from the UK’s Defence Medical Services to implement Project Mercury, a next-generation digital health record system designed for military clinicians operating across global theaters. The initiative strengthens the UK’s ability to deliver medical care in both fixed and deployed settings.
The system provides clinicians with the ability to view, record, and exchange patient information on multiple devices, even when operating in remote or disconnected environments. By enabling secure access to medical records without continuous internet connectivity, Project Mercury enhances continuity of care for deployed service members.
Developed in partnership with UK and NATO medical professionals, the platform uses NFC-based data transfer technology to securely exchange information offline. This capability ensures that frontline medical teams maintain access to current and accurate health data during missions where connectivity is constrained or unavailable.
The first live version of Project Mercury is expected to launch in Spring 2026, followed by phased development through 2027. The contract supports the Ministry of Defence’s long-term digital health strategy, building on efforts launched in 2022 to consolidate military health records, upgrades to digitally enabled field medical kits in 2023, and ongoing work under Programme Cortisone to deliver an integrated, interoperable military healthcare system.
