Babcock International has secured a long-term agreement to maintain portable electrical power generators used by the British Army. The contract could extend for as long as eight years and is valued at up to 36 million pounds. Under the arrangement, Babcock will manage the upkeep, repair, and overhaul of the generator fleet that supports army operations in the field. The company will also apply asset management tools to monitor the equipment’s lifecycle and ensure consistent performance and reliability. Work related to the contract will be performed by engineering teams across three facilities within the United Kingdom, and the program is expected to generate about 20 jobs. The generators maintained under this contract are referred to as Field Electrical Power Supplies. They are used during military deployments and exercises to supply electricity in locations where access to permanent power infrastructure is not available. These units provide energy for communication equipment, lighting, and operational systems required to sustain troops in remote environments. Reliable power generation has become increasingly important as modern armed forces rely heavily on digital networks, sensors, and command systems that require continuous electricity. The British Army uses these generators to support temporary bases, mobile headquarters, and forward operating positions. Babcock already maintains long-standing partnerships with the UK armed forces, delivering maintenance and engineering services for vehicles and other defence equipment. The company also plays a role in shipbuilding projects and military training support programs across the United Kingdom.
