Two Pativilca-class offshore patrol ships have been christened and launched by the Peruvian Navy as part of its endeavor to improve maritime operations at home. Ten boats are planned under the program for search and rescue, anti-piracy, surveillance, and environmental response protection, including the BAP Río Huarmey (PM 210) and BAP Río Nepeña (PM 211).The Tae Guk-class guard ship design from South Korea serves as the model for the vessels built under the Pativilca-class program.
