Rheinmetall has been given a framework follow-on contract worth up to 3.1 billion euros ($3.2 billion) by the German army procurement agency for the purchase of soldier-systems. Under the largest-ever soldier-system deal, up to 368 Infantry Soldier of the Future – Enhanced System (IdZ-ES) platoon systems will be manufactured and delivered by 2030. 34 separate troop systems plus auxiliary elements including “IT-equipment, optics, optronics, as well as military clothing, protection, and carrying equipment” make up a platoon system.
