Textron Systems has been awarded a $41-million task order to support maintenance training for the US Air Force’s T-7A Red Hawk program, strengthening sustainment capabilities for the service’s next-generation trainer aircraft. The contract, issued by Akima, spans three years and focuses on delivering advanced training infrastructure for Air Force maintainers.

The scope of work includes the development and integration of fuselage-based training simulators designed to replicate key sections of the T-7A aircraft. These simulators will be used to train ground crews responsible for maintaining operational jets, providing realistic instruction across multiple aircraft systems.

Using a blended training approach, the systems allow maintainers to conduct hands-on procedures, virtual inspections, and performance evaluations in a controlled environment. This method enhances skill proficiency while supporting efficient lifecycle management of the T-7A fleet.

Textron will carry out the work at its Goose Creek, South Carolina site, a hub for advanced maintenance and sustainment simulation technologies. The agreement includes optional follow-on systems valued at up to $21 million, which could raise the program’s total value to $62 million, with support from Pinnacle Solutions, Akima’s Alabama-based subsidiary.
