The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration has awarded BAE Systems a new contract, valued at nearly $62 million (SEK 600 million), to supply additional BONUS precision-guided munitions to the Swedish Armed Forces.
This continued collaboration between BAE Systems Bofors and Sweden reinforces their commitment to providing advanced, high-performance defense systems. The BONUS munition improves the operational reach of 155 mm artillery by delivering precise, long-range strikes against a variety of armored threats, including tanks, APCs, IFVs, and self-propelled guns.
BONUS operates as a fire-and-forget system, deploying two smart submunitions capable of independently detecting and neutralizing armored targets within a 32,000 square meter area. It boasts a maximum firing range of 35 kilometers when used with NATO L52 artillery systems and is highly effective against both stationary and moving targets. The system is particularly well-suited for integration with modern platforms like the BAE Systems ARCHER artillery system.
Developed in partnership with Nexter Systems, BONUS is trusted by multiple allied nations, including Sweden, Finland, France, Norway, and the United States, further cementing its status as a versatile and dependable solution in modern warfare.
