LG CNS has secured two defense IT modernization contracts from South Korea’s Defense Information Agency, reinforcing its role in upgrading the country’s military digital infrastructure. The projects focus on unifying communications networks across the armed forces and modernizing systems used to manage military facilities and national defense assets.
The first project will integrate the communications networks of the Korean Army, Navy, Air Force, and Joint Chiefs of Staff, creating a standardized environment for data sharing and command coordination. Previously, each service operated independent systems, which constrained information flow and slowed joint operations.
To address these challenges, LG CNS will deploy software-defined networking that allows centralized control of network routers across the country. The upgraded architecture will include layered cybersecurity defenses, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and safeguards against large-scale traffic flooding and cyberattacks targeting military communications.
An AI-driven monitoring solution will provide real-time visibility into network activity, enabling automated threat analysis and faster response times. By reducing manual workload, the system is expected to enhance overall network resilience and allow security personnel to focus on advanced cyber defense operations.
The second initiative will modernize the Defense Information Agency’s military facility management system under the Next-Generation Defense Facility Integrated Information System Construction Project. LG CNS will unify fragmented data and processes into a single digital platform supporting end-to-end facility operations.
The integrated system will link 12 internal government business systems and eight external platforms, combining administrative, financial, operational, and geospatial data. This comprehensive approach will enable centralized oversight of planning, budgeting, construction, maintenance, and national property management, improving transparency and efficiency across South Korea’s defense infrastructure.
