The Slovak Ministry of Defence has presented a new generation combat uniform and a lineup of modern infantry weapons as part of its ongoing armed forces modernization drive. The newly introduced M25, also known as “Vzor 25,” replaces the Slovak military’s legacy digital camouflage adopted in 2007, placing a stronger emphasis on soldier comfort, protection, and sustained field operations.
Defense officials highlighted that the design of the Vzor 25 uniform incorporates feedback from active service personnel and insights drawn from recent military conflicts. The uniform system is intended to support long-duration missions by improving wear resistance and environmental protection. The basic uniform package costs around €300 ($354) and includes standard field clothing, with optional mission-specific and flame-resistant variants available for specialized roles.
Although the uniform fabric is procured from foreign suppliers, final tailoring and assembly will be completed domestically, supporting Slovakia’s local textile industry. Alongside the new uniforms, the armed forces will also receive enhanced personal protective equipment, including updated body armor systems, helmets, and night vision capabilities.
Complementing the uniform upgrade, Slovakia has also selected new small arms produced by domestic manufacturer Grand Power. The GP M4M 5.56 mm rifle will serve as the primary infantry weapon, supplemented by GP R10 sniper rifles, Stribog SP9 A3 submachine guns, and GP Q1 pistols. According to officials, the rearmament effort will cost approximately €82 million ($96.7 million), with weapon deliveries planned to be completed by 2028.
