The Norwegian Army has officially received its first batch of Valkyrie drone swarms from Six Robotics, marking the beginning of Norway’s operational testing phase for autonomous drone warfare. The delivery also includes training and onboarding sessions to prepare Norwegian troops for the system’s deployment in upcoming field exercises.
The Valkyrie drone system is a result of collaboration between Oslo-based Six Robotics and the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI). Although still under development, the system is designed to operate as a coordinated swarm, offering enhanced capabilities in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and tactical support missions. More Valkyrie systems are scheduled for delivery over the next several months.
The drones will now enter an evaluation phase under the Army Weapons School and front-line maneuver units, where they will be tested in real-world conditions to assess performance, responsiveness, and communication integrity. These assessments will be crucial in identifying system improvements and software upgrades before full-scale deployment.
According to Six Robotics, feedback from soldiers and operators will play a key role in the evolution of the Valkyrie platform, ensuring it meets the operational needs of modern battlefields. The program represents a major step in Norway’s defense modernization efforts, emphasizing AI-powered, scalable, and low-cost aerial systems for future warfare scenarios.
