Singapore’s shipbuilder ST Engineering has completed the keel-laying of the second Victoria-class Multi-Role Combat Vessel for the Republic of Singapore Navy, signaling continued progress on one of the country’s most ambitious naval programs. The vessel, designated RSS Valour (89), began construction earlier in 2025, though specific details of the ceremony were not disclosed.
The Victoria-class MRCV initiative envisions a fleet of up to six highly versatile warships, designed to operate as both frontline combatants and command hubs for unmanned maritime systems. ST Engineering has stated that the class will introduce the largest naval platforms in Singapore’s history, integrating cutting-edge combat systems and future-ready mission flexibility.
Following the signing of the program contract in March 2023, the first ship, RSS Victory (88), was launched in October 2025. The remaining vessels are currently under construction at ST Engineering’s western Jurong shipyard, with the Singapore Navy scheduled to begin inducting the ships from 2028 onward.
The Victoria-class MRCV features a 150-meter hull and is equipped for multi-domain warfare, carrying missiles for air, surface, and sub-surface threats. Additional capabilities include a 76mm automatic cannon, a 30mm remotely operated turret, multiple radar systems, aviation facilities, and berthing for up to 100 personnel. The ship’s diesel-electric propulsion system enables speeds of over 20 knots and a long operational range, supporting sustained deployments across regional and blue-water environments.
