Indonesia is ramping up its cybersecurity efforts through a new defense cooperation dialogue with Singapore, aiming to draw on its neighbor’s established cyber military framework. Jakarta views Singapore as a valuable partner due to its structured and integrated cyber defense command within the national armed forces.

During recent discussions, Indonesian officials acknowledged the significance of Singapore’s progress, noting how the country’s cyber force has matured into a full-fledged military component, on par with traditional service branches. This successful integration is something Indonesia hopes to emulate as it seeks to modernize its defense posture in the digital domain.

Brigadier General Frega Wenas Inkiriwang emphasized that cybersecurity is no longer a marginal concern but a vital aspect of national security strategy. He stressed that threats in cyberspace have evolved beyond simple cybercrime to include complex risks requiring military-level responses and coordination.

Further planning is underway between the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Singapore’s cyber units to define the terms of cooperation. These engagements are expected to include knowledge-sharing, joint training, and the development of cyber defense frameworks tailored to emerging regional security dynamics.
