Sako, a Finnish small arms manufacturer, has been contracted by Sweden to supply its military with 22,500 more Automatkarbin 24 (AK 24) assault rifles. The order is a component of a cooperative framework that Finland and Sweden signed in March 2021 to modernize their weapons systems together in response to the changing battlefield.The automatic carbines were first purchased by both nations in March 2023.
