An undisclosed European NATO country has placed an order with Saab for the Sirius passive sensor system, enhancing its intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. The contract, valued at around €130 million, includes system delivery and support services, with production and deliveries planned to extend through the end of the decade.

Sirius is a passive signals intelligence solution that integrates electronic and communications intelligence sensors to provide real-time situational awareness and strategic intelligence collection. The system is designed for multi-domain deployment, enabling coordinated SIGINT operations across air, land, and maritime environments while remaining undetected in contested electromagnetic conditions.

To support growing demand, Saab is expanding its industrial footprint with a new production facility in Finland focused on manufacturing Sirius Compact sensors. The Compact version offers a lighter, more adaptable solution for tactical applications and can be rapidly integrated into diverse platforms, supporting both fixed and mobile surveillance missions.

The Sirius system features advanced signal detection and analysis capabilities, allowing it to monitor a broad range of radio frequency emissions even in dense electromagnetic environments. Its open-architecture design supports sensor networking, data fusion, and seamless integration with existing command-and-control systems. Automated classification tools reduce operator workload while enabling persistent, high-precision intelligence collection across distributed operational areas.
