The launch of ORP Henryk Zygalski marks the completion of Poland’s DELFIN-class SIGINT vessel construction phase, with Saab delivering the second and final ship under the two-unit program. The event follows the earlier launch of ORP Jerzy Różycki in mid-2025 and represents a significant step forward in strengthening Polish naval intelligence capabilities.
Both ships will now enter an intensive systems installation and integration period, during which specialized electronic intelligence sensors, processing systems, and communications equipment will be fitted. These activities will be followed by comprehensive sea trials to validate operational performance prior to formal induction into the Polish Navy.
Designed for signals intelligence and electronic surveillance missions, the DELFIN-class vessels will enable Poland to monitor, intercept, and analyze maritime electronic emissions with greater precision. The platforms are intended to enhance situational awareness in contested environments, support allied intelligence-sharing efforts, and improve Poland’s ability to monitor activity in the Baltic Sea and surrounding waters.
Saab leads the program as prime contractor, with ship construction handled by Remontowa Shipbuilding and design input from MMC, while additional Polish defense firms contribute to mission integration. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027 and 2028, aligning with Warsaw’s wider naval modernization strategy. Recent initiatives include the selection of Saab A26 submarines under the Orka program and a strategic cooperation agreement with WB Group focused on unmanned systems, naval platforms, and border security technologies.
