Saab has unveiled Nimbrix, a newly developed missile designed to counter the rising use of small drones in modern conflicts. Marking the company’s first dedicated counter-drone weapon, the system directly addresses the growing challenges posed by inexpensive but effective unmanned aerial systems on the battlefield.

The Nimbrix missile incorporates a fire-and-forget operating mode that minimizes operator workload during engagements. It integrates an active seeker for accurate tracking, and its warhead has been engineered for hard-kill, air-burst performance—an approach that boosts its effectiveness against dense formations such as drone swarms.

One of the defining aspects of the Nimbrix design is its modularity. Saab has ensured the missile can be mounted on a variety of platforms, from armored vehicles to stationary installations, or linked into broader national and allied air defense networks. This versatility enables defense forces to scale deployment as required.

Equally important, Nimbrix can function independently as a ground-based launcher, providing a flexible and deployable solution for armed forces. With this system, Saab reinforces its commitment to offering adaptable technologies that address emerging asymmetric threats in future warfare.
